The single most useful improv exercise for business teams. Yes, and trains a reflex: when a colleague offers an idea, your default response is to accept it and add to it, not to block. Done for ten minutes a day, it changes how a team brainstorms.
How to run it
- 1
Pair up. One person starts a story with one sentence: 'I just bought a parrot.'
- 2
Their partner responds with 'Yes, and…' followed by a sentence that accepts the premise and adds to it.
- 3
Continue, alternating, for two minutes.
- 4
Swap pairs. Repeat three times.
- 5
Debrief in plenary: where did you feel the urge to block?
Where this fits
Pair this with the right venue setting and a matching retreat format. If you want a fully facilitated version, our team can run it for you.
