Egg drop

Engineer a contraption that protects a raw egg dropped from a balcony.

An old Scout-camp game that translates perfectly to corporate offsites. The constraint of physics is a great equaliser — engineers don't necessarily win, and the debrief about how teams divided design vs. build vs. test work is gold.

How to run it

  1. 1

Give each team a kit: 10 straws, 1 m tape, 2 sheets of paper, 6 elastic bands, 1 plastic bag, 1 raw egg.

  2. 2

30 minutes to build a contraption that will protect their egg from a 3 metre drop.

  3. 3

Drop each contraption from the same height. Surviving eggs win.

  4. 4

Debrief: who tested before the final drop? Who didn't, and why?

Where this fits
